Phytosanitary Practices and Pesticide Levels in Fresh and Dried Mangoes Produced in Burkina Faso

Pesticides are used to control fruit flies and other potential crop pests, particularly mango in Burkina Faso. a health hazard for users consumers major constraint the export commercialization of mangoes. The objective this study was evaluate phytosanitary practices orchards pesticide residue levels four varieties fresh dried mangoes (Amelie, Brooks, Kents Lippens) produced localities Faso order determine their impact on consumers. Surveys use monitoring were carried out among 16 orchard owners Bobo-Dioulasso, Orodara, Toussiana Banfora, high production area. Also, total 120 samples, including 60 samples collected. A multi-residue method developed detect collected by gas chromatography with micro-electron capture detector. revealed unauthorized pesticides, often specifically crops, trapping network against insects. 34 chemical pesticides detected all Pesticide residues 72% positive 48.52% contained concentrations above maximum limit permissibility. Organochlorine present (60.5%) fifteen active compounds very poor management found these could pose threat productivity natural ecosystems producers, processors Awareness raising training producers knowledge risks linked good necessary preserve all.
